Rick is in charge of individual taxation and personal finance at Van Buren Financial Group and specializes in investment advisory services, individual tax review, tax planning for individuals and businesses, divorce consulting, and IRS representation. He has 30 years of experience in the tax industry and has been with HD Vest/Avantax for all 20 of his years as a financial adviser. Rick serves as Avantax Chapter Director for both Delaware and Maryland.
Rick’s professional credentials, including being a Certified Public Accountant and a Personal Financial Specialist, show that he has dedicated his career to higher education and serving his clients in the highest capacity he can. Rick also holds the following FINRA licenses: Series 7 - General Securities Representative, Series 63 - Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam, Series 65 - NASAA-Investment Advisors Law Exam. In 2008, Rick co-founded Van Buren Financial Group because he wanted to have a meaningful impact on his clients’ daily lives. He helps guide clients from just starting their first job all the way through their retirement years.
Rick is involved with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he is the past chairman of the tax committee, and the Maryland Society of Accounting and Tax Professionals. He is also an active member of the Delaware Saengerbund and Library Association.
Rick and his wife, LuAnn have 4 children. Outside of the office Rick enjoys spending time with his kids and being involved in his children's sports. His oldest son, Vincent, is a Sergeant in the US Marines Corps. His oldest daughter is currently attending the University of Delaware. His two younger sons Zachary & Matthew attend the same high school that Rick graduated from---Salesianum High School.
